1930s school transformed into artist studios and community workspace.

The Challenge

Convert abandoned neighborhood school into affordable artist studios and community space while maintaining neighborhood character.

Our Solution

Original classrooms become artist studios. Gymnasium converted to gallery and event space. Playground becomes community garden. Preserves neighborhood landmark and creates 24 affordable workspaces.

Sustainability

Building reuse preserved neighborhood character and embodied energy. Solar panels offset energy use. Community garden provides green space and stormwater management.

New elevator serves all three floors. Accessible restrooms. Gallery and event space fully accessible. Some studios designed for artists with disabilities.
